Oh, Polyanna, I don't know if you've been around the block, but the only thing experience in publishing is good for, is more experience in publishing. When you start, you have opted for the tiny staircase, which means the glass ceiling is that much closer to your overwhelmed little head.
Rod is absolutely right, mediabistro and galleycat are just never going to be a forum for what's actually going on in the industry. The trouble is that I don't think anyone really knows, although it's hard to hear over all the happy talk.
