I have a feeling she'll somehow overcome her violation of her rights as an author in order to flip the on switch of her money machine.
@wardstradlater: Precisely. I mean, I'm sure it's kind of disheartening to have the cat out of the bag (well, half of it anyway - it was the first 12 chapters that were leaked), but it's not like there are any real spoilers, per se. It's the same book told from a different character's perspective. And really, it would be sort of hard to read it without having read Twilight in the first place. And if fans are the only ones who will be buy Midnight Sun anyway, they will likely buy it regardless of the leak. So I don't see that it's that big of a tragedy, and I'm positive she'll end up finishing it in the near future.
Ahem. Um, no, I haven't read these books, why do you ask?
"Edward is a version of that legendary, seldom-seen male who won't take advantage of his date even if she rips off her clothes and begs him to take her to bed."
I think that's called "closeted."
If you've read the books, which I have, it's actually pretty interesting what she's doing. The story is very different from this shift of perspective. You'd think it wouldn't be, especially knowing exactly what happens, but the leaked chapters are actually great stuff. And believe it or not, she's popular because she has talent.
That being said, while I understand she's disappointed ... I would be extremely flattered that people held such interest in my writing that I could sell an entire retelling of my first novel from another character's perspective. And this whole brouhaha will only drive sales of the book through the roof when it comes out, because the fans are going to be rabid to buy the novel they thought they would never see.
Oh no, someone spoiled my trashy, horribly written novel! Retelling the first book from a different character's perspective? Brilliant. I think what really happened is the room full of monkeys she uses to write her books escaped and she has to track down some more.
