Conceived in Germany, Built in Mexico
You may be seeing some new taxis on the street in the near future!
Late last year, the Taxi & Limousine Commission approved the VW Jetta for use by New York City taxis, and there are now 13 of them roaming the streets. More may be on the way, though, since they're clean-diesel and get 29 miles per gallon of gasoline. And it's hardly surprising the city picked a German car that was produced at a factory in Mexico. God knows the American auto industry isn't inspiring much confidence these days!
