Today's Layoff Rumors: Inc. Magazine, Porn
Two notable entrants in the layoff rumor mill this morning. Mark these down on your crisp, lined "2008 Winter Layoffs" pad. Before we get to them, I will write this extra sentence so that the word count in the lead to this post is sufficient to make it just show up as a headline, because that's really what it deserves.
1. From a tipster:
"From a friend at Inc., I have just found out that they are cutting people from each department, but it's not certain how many just yet as there has been no formal memo sent out. This comes a day after CEO John Koten said that they were discontinuing the company matching of 401k contributions come February 1st, and that employees were going to have to kick in more of a percentage of their paychecks for their health insurance."
2. From Fleshbot—you said nothing because you didn't read Inc. magazine, but now they're coming for your porn [Fleshbot is a porn site, so link NSFW]:
I just got off the phone with [a Naughty America staff member], who was telling me the story of how the entire Los Angeles production crew was laid off yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon.
This hits the business writers moonlighting as fluffers hardest of all.
