Former LA Times writer Daniel Hernandez relays a bizarre story from Mexico: A wrestler had a nervous breakdown on a bus, forced his way off and soon died in the wilderness.

Wrestler Andres Palomque Gonzalez played a "rudo" or bad guy role on the Mexican AAA circuit. The former WWE performer was riding the bus from Mazatlan to Mexico City last week and had a panic attack. He texted his wife sometime after forcing his way off the vehicle, saying he was lost in the hills.

He was later found dead, having fallen into river mud, where he drowned. Writes PW News Now:

...local coroner, Jesus Lopez... concluded that it was in fact the anxiety attack that led to his becoming stuck in the river and ultimately caused his death.

He also noted that it is possible that the anabolic steroids Gonzalez had been taking (allegedly) may have led to the mental breakdown.

It's still not clear exactly how Gonzalez died: Did he drown on his own, or was something else going on? "Some are speculating that it was Gonzalez's past that finally caught up to him and led to his death," PW News adds cryptically.

If America's culture vultures aren't sufficiently interested in Mexico's "Lucha libre" wrestling, with its intriguingly bizarre masks and free-form style, maybe a real-life 'roid rampage (plus possible homicide) will do the trick. This one has "premium cable movie option" written all over it. (Get cracking, Hernandez.)
