Would Tom Petty freak out and cancel his Canadian tour? Hmmm???
@BxgrlJeri: Ha. WWTPD: What would Tom Petty do?!?
(How the interviewer restrained himself from answering with the obvious — "You are NOT Tom Petty" — is beyond me.)
@deva14: ha!
The interviewer behaved admirably—perhaps he had the foresight to realize remaining calm and polite would make BBT's behaviour even more laughable. It was like a radio episode of the office.
In other news, Billy Bob Thornton is a liar who thinks Canadians are too stupid to understand that what he said was obviously aimed at Canadian audiences and not at the interviewer. You only need to be able to *read and hear* to understand what he meant.
Hey Billy Bob, you're just a tool.
I'm all for a little mischief and some creative punking now and again, but after viewing that tape of BBT being fully rude to the radio interviewer I say what goes around comes around, and of course the concert crowd was going to heckle.
BBT's behavior was just a huge dis. I wouldn't have been as patient as the DJ was, however. I think he played into BBT's ego too much. Were I the DJ, after several cryptic, snotty comments, I would have directed my questions instead to the two dudes in matching hipster hair dye and engineer glasses.
This asshat has a history of asshattery. The Mangy Moose in Jackson, Wy. has a tiny stage and in the contract for the club is a diagram showing stage dimensions. BBT showed up, took one look and refused to play. In breaking his contract he was also denied his condo. He then misbehaved so badly that he and his bus were removed from the property by the Teton Co. Sheriff.
