The State is one of the most irreverent, bizarre, and delightful sketch shows out there. The problem with it is that if you weren't a hip college kid in 1993 you've probably never seen it.

The State aired from 1993 to 1995 on MTV (back when MTV "cool" and not "totes kewl, omg"). It was made up of a bunch of baby-faced NYU scamps who later when on to make amazing comedy you might actually recognize: Stella, Wet Hot American Summer, and Reno 911. Don't feel bad about not knowing much about The State, it did take 14 years for it to come out on DVD and it was never really syndicated before that. This sketch is definitely more bizarre than most and if someone had to explain why they thought it was funny they'd probably trip over their words than angrily blurt out "It just is, OK!?". Keep a look out for some familiar Reno 911-ers sans mustaches in this clip.
