On NBC's new show The Sing-off, all of the contestants sing a capella. Don't know what a capella means? Let Professor Lachey show you by beating it over your head ad-nauseum until your dense, childlike mind can grasp it.

Sure, viewers that are just tuning in may need to be caught up, and we'll even let it slide that the show must reassure the audience that this show is different and amazing and unlike anyone has ever seen before. But blatantly explaining exactly what a capella is after every single commercial break over and over again seems a bit dumbed-down.

NBC needs to get its act together. A show like 30 Rock demands attention and understanding to abstract humor and quick-witted zingers. And then on this show they cater to the intellectually obtuse? Know your audience, NBC!
