Capitol Records sued Vimeo today over copyright infringement concerning lip dubs. It's symbolic of how the music industry doesn't understand/can't catch up to the internet. As if on cue, the internet brings you a spankin' new Jackson 5 lip dub.

Specifically, the lawsuit was filed over Vimeo's office doing a lip dub of Flagpole Sitta—the first internet lip dub. Maybe instead of trying to fight the out-of-control hydra that is intellectual property* on the internet, they should go along and embrace the free exposure that these lip dubs are giving to the artists. It's hard to imagine that these 120 students at Boston University are turning much of a profit on their Jackson 5 lip dub.

And in case this is your first time on the internet, here's the Flagpole Sitta lip dub.
