NYT Reporter Fell into Plagiarism Trance

Zachery Kouwe—the New York Times business reporter caught plagiarizing portions of stories from other news outlets and press releases—resigned yesterday. Nobody was more surprised that Zachery Kouwe plagiarized (at least) a half-dozen times than Zachery Kouwe himself.
"Mr. Kouwe says he has never fabricated a story, nor has he knowingly plagiarized... 'In the essence of speed, [when writing a post for DealBook] I'll look at various wire services and throw it into our back-end publishing system...I was stupid and careless and fucked up and thought it was my own stuff, or it somehow slipped in there. I think that's what probably happened,'" reports John Koblin in the New York Observer. Ahem.
