LA Loses Last Bastion of Endangered Sushi
Riding high on Oscar glory, the brains behind dolphin hunting documentary The Cove, along with several federal agencies, busted Santa Monica hot-spot eatery The Hump for serving endangered Sei whale meat.
According to a report in the Times: "The Hump is known for serving exotic forms of sushi, which are popular in Los Angeles." (Angelinos also enjoy mountain gorilla and snow leopard barbeques, apparently.)
Anyway, the team snuck sushi samples out of The Hump for lab tests. When they came back positive, the evil restaurant's evil lawyer fessed up and said they will pay any fines, which could reach up to $200,000.
