A school in the south freaked out when an 18-year-old student wanted to bring her girlfriend to senior prom. They canceled the event altogether "due to the distractions to the educational process caused by recent events."

The girl, Constance McMillen, was also banned from the school yearbook for wearing a tuxedo on picture day. Speaking with the AP, she said, "it's a small town in Mississippi, and it's run by an older generation with money. Most of them are more conservative and they don't agree with [homosexuality]."
