Dick Cheney's speaking fees: "As of last year, Dick Cheney commanded $75,000, plus first-class travel for an entourage of three. Liz Cheney gets $20,000 plus travel for one." Well, that's still less than Gore. And Paris Hilton.

Considering the billions his buddies made from the GWOT, 75k is nothing.

I always expected his relentless defense of the interminable (and expensive) Iraq war would be paid back in exorbitant speaking gigs and probably a multimillion dollar consulting or thinktank position.

"Speech fees" are a way of paying ex-politicos a lobby fee without registering them as a lobbist. No kidding that Al Gore has a lot more pull in this admin than does Cheney. If and when the Haliburton (or whatever they are called now) pendulum swings again, his rates will go up.

Bush Sr. got $2M to give a talk in Saudi Arabia right after he was out of office....ummm...duh.

Alan Greenspan speaks at Goldman for $500,000...ummmm...duh.
