Zinczenko was a military man, serving in the Navy Reserves while he was still enrolled at Moravian College. Zinczenko got his start in publishing in 1991 as an assistant editor at Men's Journal. In 2000, he jumped ship to another ab-obsessed publication, landing the role of editor-in-chief at Men's Health. Under his leadership, Men's Health has grown into the foremost men's exercise magazine in the world: it is published in 39 different editions in 46 countries. His editorial prowess doesn't end with men's magazines: in 2005 he was named editorial director of Women's Health, and since 2011, he has been editorially steering Organic Gardening and Prevention.

Zinczenko has also co-authored 12 books with Matt Goulding, all based on the original book success, Eat This, Not That!. Not one to stray from a cut body, Zinczenko also wrote The Abs Diet and its two sequels: The New Abs Diet and The New Abs Diet Cookbook.
