Who

A cosmetic dentist to the stars, Lowenberg has brightened up the smiles of folks like Russell Simmons, Heidi Klum, and Narciso Rodriguez.

Backstory

Lowenberg grew up on Long Island and attended dentistry school at NYU before interning at the not-so-glitzy Metropolitan Hospital on the Upper East Side. His career took a more glamorous turn when he became an early expert in cosmetic dentistry and landed famous patients like Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, which led to a steady stream of boldfaced clients. These days, Lowenberg shares a practice with Dr. Gregg Lituchy, who started working for Lowenberg as a dental student at Columbia. Naturally, a shining smile courtesy of Lowenberg or Lituchy doesn't come cheap: a new set of veneers will run you $25,000 or more, about the same as Lowenberg's primary competitor Larry Rosenthal.

Namedrop

Lowenberg and Lituchy have treated Heidi Klum, Cindy Crawford, Chris Rock, Russell Simmons, Cyndi Lauper, Iggy Pop, Brian Eno, Bryan Ferry, Courteney Cox Arquette, Narciso Rodriguez, Amanda Peet, Julianna Margulies, Marc Anthony, and Sarah Michelle Gellar, plus the occasional artist (Jasper Johns) and author (Norman Mailer). Just in case there's any doubt, glossy autographed photos are on display for all to see in the waiting room. And should any of the celeb clients panic before getting into the chair, there's a masseur on hand to rub anxious patients' shoulders.

Personal

Lowenberg's second wife is Joan Finkelstein, the ex-wife of financier and media entrepreneur Jimmy Finkelstein. Lowenberg has two grown children with his first wife, the late Sandra Lowenberg: Terrence, who works in real estate, and Tara, who owns a public relations firm. Marc and Joan live on Park Avenue and own a summer home in Water Mill.

No joke

One person Lowenberg hasn't had as a client but has said he'd love to work on? Madonna. "She's at an age and a point in her career that I think she could benefit from teeth that have a better shape, are more symmetrical… I would definitely close the gap between her front teeth."
