Jeremy Shockey
Shockey is the former bad-boy tight end for the New York Giants who spends as much time gracing the sports section as the gossip pages. He was traded to the New Orleans Saints in 2008 and the Carolina Panthers in 2011.
Born in Oklahoma, Shockey became a NCAA star with the University of Miami, leading them to a national championship in 2001. He quickly declared himself eligible for the 2002 draft, where he was picked up by the New York Giants in 2002 in the first round. He got off to a good start, winning the very official-sounding Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year Award. Known more for his off-field antics and brash comments to the media (saying at one post-game press conference that the team was "outcoached"), Shockey was missing for most of the Giants' 2007 Super Bowl Champion season due to a broken fibula, and he was traded to the New Orleans Saints following the Giants' shocking win. However, he got his time in the sun as a major fixture in the Saints' Super Bowl victory in 2009. Nevertheless, injuries plagued his time on the field, and he was quietly traded to the Carolina Panthers in 2011, where he was a key component of the Carolina offense with fellow tight end Greg Olsen.
