Who

The former president of Epic Records, Walk now oversees his own entertainment company, CWE Media.

Backstory

After graduating Boston University in 1987, Walk joined Sony Music as a marketing rep. He worked his way up through the pop promotions department at Columbia, taking over the unit in 1999 and later assuming oversight of Columbia's marketing division. In December 2005, former Sony Music honchos Donny Ienner and Michele Anthony named him the president of Columbia's sister label, Epic, the label's home to Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Natasha Bedingfield, Ozzy Osbourne, Duran Duran, Tori Amos, Good Charlotte and George Michael. And although he remained atop Epic following a shakeup to Sony Music's management team —Tommy Mottola cronies Ienner and Anthony were forced out and Rob Stringer was placed in charge of Sony Music's U.S. labels—Walk departed the label in December 2008.

Currently

In February 2009, Walk launched his own entertainment company, CWE Media. The hard-charging media exec has big ambitions. CWE is planning to create content across multiple platforms, including television, music and online; the company is launching a talent management division; and Walk also plans to use his promotions experience to build a division focused on strategic branding.

On the TV side, Walk has already secured one major deal: He signed an exclusive partnership with Endemol USA—the production powerhouse responsible for such shows as Fear Factor, Deal or No Deal, and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition—and as part of the deal, Walk will be both developing and producing both scripted and non-scripted TV series.

On the side

Walk partnered with Jeffrey Chodorow to open the Japanese steakhouse Kobe Club on West 56th Street, as well as a sister Kobe Club in Miami. The NYC outpost, which didn't receive the kindliest reviews from critics, closed its doors in April 2009. But the Kobe Club in Miami is still running strong.

Trophy case

Esquire magazine cited Walk as a "visionary" in 2007. Details later featured Walk in its "Mavericks Issue" and cited him as an "agent of change" with the ability to "bend the future to [his] will."

Personal

Charlie's wife, Lauren, gave birth to the couple's fourth child, Jewel Summer, in early 2007. They apparently like the letter "J": the couple's other kids are named Jade, Jagger and Jesse. The Walks live in Tribeca and have a home in Water Mill that they picked up for $1.5 million for in 2003.
