Gemma Ward
Ward is a doe-eyed Australian reality show contestant turned top-tier fashion model.
Ward was discovered at a 2002 casting call for Search for a Supermodel in her hometown of Perth, Australia. Allegedly just tagging along with friends, the 14-year-old Ward auditioned, made it into the top 20 and was later picked to star on the show. She went on to Australian fashion week, and then made the graceful transition to major magazine spreads in W and Vogue, walking the runways for Anna Sui, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, and Carolina Herrera. She has been featured in campaigns for Louis Vuitton, Valentino, and Dolce & Gabbana. She's also the face of Kose cosmetics, an enormously popular line of makeup in Japan. Already on her way to adding the dreaded "-actress" to her resume, she appeared in scary movie The Strangers alongside Liv Tyler in 2008 and as a mermaid in one of the Pirates movies.
Ward was reportedly seeing Heath Ledger at the time of his tragic passing. Because of the turmoil surrounding his death, Ward took a lengthy hiatus from the runways, prompting rumors of her "retirement." [Image via Getty]
