The brooding, square-jawed Schreiber is known for his roles on both stage and screen, as well as for being Naomi Watts' babydaddy.

Raised on the Lower East Side by his hippie mom, Schreiber briefly attended grade school at a Connecticut ashram called Yogaville. After graduating from the Yale School of Drama, he had minor roles in a pile of indie movies, including 1995's Party Girl and 1996's Daytrippers, both of which co-starred Parker Posey. His role in the 1996 horror flick Scream brought him a taste of mainstream success, and he's since gotten better billing in movies like Kate & Leopold and The Manchurian Candidate. He's also found steady work as a stage actor. A Shakespeare fan, he earned raves in Hamlet at the Public Theater in 1999 and generated equally positive praise with his 2003 performance in Henry V in Central Park. A turn as Richard Roma in the 2005 revival of Glengarry Glen Ross won him a Tony and in 2010 he snagged a Tony nod for A View From the Bridge. That same year saw the release of Schreiber's first directorial effort, the widely disparaged movie version of Jonathan Safran Foer's Everything is Illuminated. But he hasn't forgotten film, starring in Defiance and Salt.

Previously involved with Sex and the City actress Kristin Davis, he's been engaged to actress Naomi Watts since December 2005. In June 2007, they told the press they'd secretly gotten married, and then retracted their statement the same day. The pair have two sons, Samuel and Alexander. [Image via Getty]
