George Stephanopoulos
A former advisor and communications director to President Bill Clinton and America's favorite Greek, Stephanopoulos is the former host of ABC's Good Morning America and current host of This Week. His wife is actress Alexandra Wentworth.
Stephanopoulos got his feet wet in politics working as an aide to Ohio congressman Ed Feighan. He worked on (fellow Greek) Michael Dukakis's presidential bid in 1988, then in 1992 Stephanopoulos defected from assisting Dick Gephardt to join Bill Clinton's first presidential run. Following Clinton's victory, he became Bubba's senior advisor for policy and strategy. But it wasn't an easy gig for the sensitive young politico: Stephanopoulos later said the job weighed on him so heavily that he broke out in hives and suffered from depression. He departed the administration after Clinton's first term and became an analyst for ABC News in 1997. In September 2002, he began hosting the ABC's Sunday morning political chatfest, This Week, where he remained for seven years until departing to take over Diane Sawyer's spot as co-anchor of Good Morning America in December 2009, only to return to This Week in 2011.
Once considered one of the most eligible bachelors in New York—he was even the victim of a stalker at one point—Stephanopoulos settled down in 2001 with actress Alexandra Wentworth, the daughter of socialite Muffie Brandon Cabot. They have two daughters, Elliott and Harper. Lastly, Stephanopoulos's White House years have inspired a handful of fictional characters: He was reportedly the basis for Sam Seaborn on Aaron Sorkin's The West Wing (he was played by Rob Lowe) and the character of Lewis Rothschild in the movie The American President (he was played by Michael J. Fox). [Image via Getty]
