Handling your liquor in public can be hard. But it can get really tough right after giving a speech about your personal history of substance abuse. Just ask Rep. Patrick Kennedy; he tried and was cut off at the bar.

Someone tipped off Roll Call about a drinking session last night at DC's Capitol Lounge, where a jovial Kennedy cracked jokes and dissed his uncle JFK when he said Barack Obama is "the best president ever." After slamming down six drinks, he was cut off from doing any more shots.

The hard-partying Kennedy had just hours before spoken at a fundraising dinner for local charity N Street Village, where he was introduced by Rep. Jim Ramstad, his former substance abuse sponsor. Roll Call was unable to reach anyone from Kennedy's office for comment.
