Pakistanis Now Posing as Indians to Avoid Discrimination
Since the failed Times Square carbomb, and the arrest of Pakistani suspect Faisal Shahzad, a Pakistani man was ludicrously prevented from buying garden fertilizer. Others, according to Reuters, are now posing as Indians to try and avoid increased stigma.
Asghar Choudhri, "an accountant and chairman of Brooklyn's Pakistani American Merchant Association," told Reuters that "a lot of Pakistanis can't get jobs after 9/11 and now it's even worse... they are now pretending they are Indian so they can get a job."
