Police Union: Cop Who Punched Teen Girl in the Head Was Right
Last night, the internet recoiled at a cellphone video of a police officer punching a 17-year-old female jaywalker in the head in Seattle. Today, the president of the Seattle Police Officers Guild defended the cop.
This is exactly why people fear the police and hate unions. As the Associated Press reports,
[Officers Guild President] Rich O'Neil told KCPQ-TV that punching her in the face was an appropriate use of force as the officer [Ian P. Walsh] struggled with two women and a crowd formed. O'Neil says it's wrong to call the punch police brutality or racist.
Meanwhile, community leaders are drawing connections to an April 17 video of two Seattle police officers kicking a Latino subject. [AP]
