A 31-year-old Ohio woman pretended to be a 14-year-old boy to seduce a teenage lass she wanted to rape, and now the Daily News is calling it the "real-life Boys Don't Cry." No, it really isn't.

Patricia Dye is a 31-year-old woman accused of posing as a teenage boy named Matt Abrams so she could seduce two unwitting teenage females who thought she was a handsome little boy. A police report says Dye convinced a 16-year-old girl to run away with her, then gave her "some type of pain-killers" and "digitally penetrated" her. This is nothing like the time pretend-teenager Hilary Swank wooed fellow pretend-teenager Chloe Sevigny, and Chloe loved her "no matter what he is." (But then sold Hilary out and let her get murdered, because Falls City, Nebraska is a terrible place and because humans are terrible beasts. And because, as commenters note, the "real-life Boys Don't Cry" already exists: It was this person, and he died.) Patricia Dye is a horrible adult who disguised herself and tricked children in icky scary ways. So don't compare her to Boys Don't Cry. A 31-year-old charlatan rapist is not at all the same thing as a brutally murdered teenager. This is what is known as a "bad metaphor." [NYDN, TSG]
