Are you average? New Yorkers—egomaniacs, every one—like to think of themselves as above average. If you have an apartment in NYC, here's another way to think of yourself: well below average. Unless you are a millionaire.
The average apartment price in Manhattan in April, May, and June of this year, according to the NYT: about $1.3 million.
Yea. Sorry, loser.
Take heart, though. The superrich skew the "average" price high. The median price, which marks the 50th percentile of apartments sold: "between $800,000 and $900,000."
Ouch. Sorry again. If it makes you feel any better, the prices of Upper East Side townhouses are being slashed, maybe you can take advantage of that.
