New York City parks are getting free wireless internet! As part of the deal that's renewing the Time Warner and Cablevision cable franchises, the companies are outfitting 32 city parks with wifi. Of course, there's a catch.

Because Time Warner and Cablevision can't even do nice stuff without making it horrible, the free service will be limited to 30 minutes per user per month, in three 10-minute sessions—after that, it'll cost you 99 cents a day. (As part of the franchise renewal, the two companies are also investing $30 million in upgrading the city's communications infrastructure and adding eight more public access channels.)

That being said: What are you doing on your laptop, in a park? Jeez, even the frisbee players are less nerdy than you, laptop-park-guy! Get a life!
