We don't want to alarm you, but there's something uh.. race-y about the story Patricia Heaton told on The Late Late Show about the time she auditioned for a Gospel Choir.

It's not so much the way she says "black" with an emphasis on the "ack." We can perhaps even get past her brief-but-unmistakable "impression of a black person" or her extensive and embarrassing subsequent "impression of a white person." Her misguided (and failed) attempt to prove that she had rhythm did her no favors of course.

But no, friends, it's her assurance at the end of the story that one of the (presumably black) participants is now lucky enough to live in HER neighborhood in LA that we find the most eyebrow-raising.

Of course ultimately the blacks come to accept her and everyone applauds.

Man, this sucks. We liked Patricia Heaton, but now we can't get it out of our heads.

By the way, "Patricia Heaton" and "Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir" produces no relevant results on the first page of a Google search. There was a Myspace page for a guy FROM Brooklyn who claims to have performed with her and a choir on the Rachel Ray Show once, but that's all our "research" produced. Take that for what you will.
