Rick Sanchez Melts Down, Says Jews Control the Media (Updated)
Permanently confused CNN anchor Rick Sanchez has stuck his entire foot in his mouth with his latest gaffe, which isn't really a "gaffe" so much as "textbook anti-Semitism." Did you know that Jews control the media? Rick Sanchez explains.
Update: CNN has fired Sanchez.
Sanchez appeared on Pete Dominick's Sirius radio show yesterday, where the topic turned to Jon Stewart, who constantly makes fun of Sanchez on The Daily Show. Sanchez doesn't like it very much. He thinks Jon Stewart is a "bigot." He also doesn't like you, you snobby Northeastern liberals:
The conversation began with Sanchez decrying "elite, Northeast establishment liberals" who "deep down, when they look at a guy like me, they see a guy automatically who belongs in the second tier, and not the top tier.
"I think to some extent Jon Stewart and [Stephen] Colbert are the same way. I think Jon Stewart's a bigot," he said. "I think he looks at the world through, his mom, who was a school teacher, and his dad, who was a physicist or something like that. Great, I'm so happy that he grew up in a suburban middle class New Jersey home with everything you could ever imagine."
When asked who Stewart is bigoted against, Sanchez said "everybody else who's not like him."
Eventually he retracted "bigot" in favor of "prejudicial" and "uninformed."
But a few minutes later, when Dominick mentioned that Stewart was a minority himself (Jewish), Rick Sanchez, shall we say, "scoffed."
Very powerless people... [snickers] He's such a minority, I mean, you know [sarcastically]... Please, what are you kidding? ... I'm telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they — the people in this country who are Jewish — are an oppressed minority? Yeah. [sarcastically]
All in all, a fine and completely unnecessary meltdown. Bravo! We think he's sad that he has to give up his temporary primetime slot for Eliot Spitzer and Kathleen Parker's new show. But let's see if CNN even lets him keep his daytime show now. These are some bad comments! The Jews could definitely fire him from the entire media over something like this.
Much more at Pete Dominick's website. Rick Sanchez, man, he's going through a tough spell these days.
