On tonight's episode of Top Model, Ann made us all wonder if maybe she isn't ready to become a supermodel. After all, some people just can't handle the spotlight. Just ask the Bates High senior class. Oh wait, you can't...

It all started when the remaining contestants on America's Next Top Model were thrown head first into their first commercial. On roller skates. Where they had to kiss a male model at the end. Basically Ann's worst nightmares all came together to conquer whatever confidence her winning streak at the photo shoots had given her. She was dejected, teary-eyed, and ready to just about give up when her turn finally came for her two takes. Was it as horribly embarrassing as she thought it would be? See for yourself.

"I'm afraid they're all gonna laugh." Sound familiar?

Now, let me tell you a story about another young girl who was forced out of obscurity and into the limelight by a "benevolent" older woman who only wanted to expose the beauty that was hiding underneath layers of self-deprecation and neglect. The older woman told the young lady that she too could be beautiful if only she pinned back her hair, put a little lipstick on, and maybe put on a nice dress. Boys would even take her to the prom! And oh what a prom it would be. With streamers, and a King and Queen! There would also be music! Sweet, sweet music. And the young woman and her date would dance the night away and she would be the belle of the ball! But then you all know how that story ended. That young woman—being Carrie White and sporting some serious telekinetic powers—would end up offing all of her classmates as revenge for a prank meant to put her back in her place at the bottom of the totem poll. Carrie's mother had warned her. "They're all gonna laugh at you!" she said. And when they did, she snapped, all because she wasn't ready to face the kind of criticism and ridicule that often come with fame, notoriety, and being showered in pig's blood.

And isn't that exactly what looks like is happening to Ann? Sure, everyone may want to tell her how gorgeous she is and dress her up and parade her down a runway, but she's certainly doesn't believe she can handle the pressure. As a matter of fact, now no one does. Carrie's problem—aside from having to go out and find the best possible stain remover—was that she wasn't exactly ready to face failure in front of the world. Carrie and her mother had spent her entire life sheltering her, making her believe she didn't belong. After being coaxed into being less of an outcast by her gym teacher, Carrie sort of convinced herself that she could succeed in the world no matter what her mother said. But when she found out that the bigger you are the harder you fall, she went postal. This may be the fate that awaits our fair Ann.

So here's a tip. Maybe Ann isn't ready to be in the pages of Italian Vogue or be America's Next Top Model. She certainly isn't ready to be America's Next Top Roller Derby Queen. So if the people over at Top Model know what's good for them, they'll be sure to check the rafters before handing her the crown. Otherwise, be sure to steer clear of any microphone stands or basketball hoops that may be hanging precariously nearby.
