Kanye has never been shy about voicing his opinions. His bold statement regarding George Bush caused quite a stir during the devastation of hurricane Katrina. Now he is most recently quoted: "I put myself in the line of fire. It's like straight up, the kid in Tiananmen Square, the Chinese kid in front of the tank there. I'm in front of the social, the media tank."

The photo of the 1989 Tienanmen Square protester immortalizes the brave struggle of the Chinese civilians against communism regime. What does Kanye mean when he compares the communist regime to the American media? He quotes: "[Society has] broken us down to not really feel what we feel anymore." He clarifies that he compares himself and other artists to grand political figures to say: "...[N]ot that we're geniuses, but we're dreamers."

He brings up the deaths of Michael Jackson, Alexander McQueen, and children who have committed suicide and insinuates the media's responsibility. "What if Michael Jackson could, like, really explain on his Twitter why he hung the baby out the window?" Kanye states that he speaks out on behalf of those who have been affected by the media's scrutiny.
