ABC News Correspondent Injured in Car Wreck
In your awful Monday media column: an accident at ABC News, a good year at The Atlantic, staff losses at Variety, bright ideas from Mort Zuckerman, publications go for the iPad, and Anderson Cooper's show has a name.
- ABC News correspondent Abbie Boudreau and her producer, Mary Bruce, were both hospitalized after their car was rear-ended by a semi in Virginia this morning. Boudreau is still in the hospital, and her condition hasn't been reported yet.
- The Atlantic will reportedly make a $1.8 million profit this year. Proving that a smart magazine can make money. Even while regularly throwing parties at which media types gorge on free food by the platter! What's your excuse, everyone else?
- Variety is hemorrhaging talent. Sharon Waxman gleefully reports.
- Ol' Mort Zuckerman really believes that bingo games in newspapers is what the newspaper industry needs to save itself. God bless him.
- The New York Daily News is now on the iPad! Just $1.99 a month! For the New York Daily News! On the iPad! Also Harper's is on the iPad now, too, if you have time left after reading the Daily News.
- The name of Anderson Cooper's upcoming daytime talk show: "Anderson." That's a good choice.
