Comment of the Day: Michael Keaton Gets What He Deserves
Today we heard a story about Prince William pulling the whole "Do you know who I am??" famous person move. This reminded one commenter of an old, satisfying story about the Burton Batman himself, Michael Keaton.
In 1989, my grandmother worked as a waitress in a restaurant called Pepe's in Key West, FL. It's kind of a crummy place, but they get a lot of famous people in there because it's pretty well known. I have no idea why. Anyway, Michael Keaton and his "crew" come in one day at around 11:30 a.m. and begin to order breakfast. My grandmother attempts to inform Mr. Keaton that the restaurant is no longer serving breakfast for the day and that he would have to order something off the lunch menu. Mr. Keaton - whose newest movie, Batman had just hit big at the box office - didn't seem to care for this policy and told my grandmother that he would, in fact, be ordering breakfast anyway. Again, my grandmother informed Mr. Keaton that his request would not be met. Mr. Keaton looked my grandmother dead in the eye and said, "Do you know who I am? I'm Batman!"
The situation was resolved when the manager of the restaurant kicked Mr. Keaton and his crew out of the establishment.
