Click to viewRemember two weeks ago, when "blood libel" was the ancient allegation that Jews murdered children? Those were the days! Now it means "being falsely accused of having blood on your hands," as former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin clarified Monday.

A British psychiatrist says that, scientifically, Monday was "the most depressing day of the year." Was it actually? Well, talkative self-parody Sarah Palin was on Sean Hannity's Fox News show, so... yes. It was Palin's first television appearance since last week's bit of videotaped performance art, a speech uploaded to Vimeo in which she accused the media of "manufacturing a blood libel" against her.

Was she going to say sorry? Offer up a sincere apology for her misuse of the term? Ha ha, no, of course not, what are you, British? Instead, she taught us all a lesson about the meaning of "blood libel":

Blood libel obviously means being falsely accused of having blood on your hands. In this case, that's exactly what was going on... Just two days before, an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal had that term in its title. And that term has been used for eons.

Obviously. Obviously! Yes, it obviously means "being falsely accused of having blood on your hands," if you are Jewish, and the context is that someone is falsely accusing of having the blood of murdered children on your hands, as you perform religious rituals. I can't believe the nerve of some liberals, insisting that a term used to describe a specific and pernicious anti-Semitic myth not be hijacked by a narcissistic failed sports reporter as part of her eternal victimhood parade. The term has been used "for eons" (to describe a centuries old accusation about Jews)! Eons!

And don't even ask her about that silly ol' map of the U.S.—the one that featured crosshairs over Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' district only a few months before she was shot in the head. She took it down! And it had "absolutely nothing to do" with the shooter, who was, Palin tells us, "apolitical or perhaps even left-leaning." Or perhaps he was, literally, Barack Obama! Perhaps. Sarah doesn't know! She just knows that, whether the shooter was a Democrat, or a left-wing Democrat, or, perhaps, a liberal Democrat he didn't care, about her map of which congresspeople to shoot.

Of course, in the end, as Palin told us, "this isn't about me," even though "I receive a lot of death threats" because "those on the left hate my message and they will do all they can to stop me because they don't like the message." (Yes, Sarah, but how do they feel about your message?) Either way, she'll "take the darts and the arrows" because she knows "that others have my back." Huh.
