In your opportune Tuesday media column: Sean McManus leaves as head of CBS News, HuffPo bloggers timidly call for pay, Bill O'Reilly is full of shit, NYT correction of the day, magazine circulation drops, a new editor at the Chicago Reader, and how much can you trust your free guest blog content?

  • Sean McManus is leaving his position as head of CBS News in order to become head of CBS Sports. Which, admittedly, sounds much more fun, and profitable. And glamorous. He'll be replaced by Jeff Fager, the executive producer of 60 Minutes. Fager will be replaced by Andy Rooney. Haha, no. Andy Rooney has not been told.
  • Some Huffington Post bloggers are thinking, "Hey, since our company just got sold for hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars, maybe we can get paid something now, for all that stuff we write?" That's why you should never listen to Huffington Post bloggers, cause they just don't understand how things work.
  • Before Bill O'Reilly interviewed President Obama prior to the Super Bowl,he said "More people will see this interview than any other interview that's ever been done in the history of mankind." For that to be true, he would have needed more than 70 million viewers; he got 17.3 million. Which proves nothing more than that Bill O'Reilly is a horrible man who can't be trusted, as usual. Also: bad interview.
  • NYT correction of the day: "An article on Jan. 16 about drilling for oil off the coast of Angola erroneously reported a story about cows falling from planes, as an example of risks in any engineering endeavor. No cows, smuggled or otherwise, ever fell from a plane into a Japanese fishing rig. The story is an urban legend, and versions of it have been reported in Scotland, Germany, Russia and other locations." You know that's too bad, because that was a damn good anecdote.
  • In the second half of 2010, consumer magazine circulation fell 1.2%, and newsstand sales fell 7%. Get your precious print magazines while you still can.
  • Mara Shalhoup is the new editor of the Chicago Reader, and another interesting fact about Mara Shalhoup is that she wrote a book called BMF about the Black Mafia Family in Atlanta, which is a good read if you like stories about mind-boggling amounts of cocaine and money.
