Insane Crowd Protests Muslim Fundraiser for Women's Shelters
The Southern California chapter of a Muslim charity called Islamic Circle of North American Relief USA held an event in Orange County last month hoping to raise about $350,000 for "women's shelters, fighting hunger and homelessness in the area." So of course hundreds of people showed up to protest, chanting "go back home" and "Muhammad was a pervert."
You see, the event's two keynote speakers had apparently made "past anti-American statements" (one, a Brooklyn imam, was one of 169 people named as co-conspirators in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, but was never charged; the other, an Islamic activist from the Bay Area, participated in "Israeli Apartheid Week" at UC Irvine, where he said he "supports Hezbollah"). And what better way to protest anti-American statements than to hold a "pro-America rally"? Listen to some of the amazing, inspiring, pro-American statements:
At one point, Villa Park Councilwoman Deborah Pauly noted that she had a young son who is in the Marines, then added: "I know quite a few Marines who would be happy to help these terrorists to a, uh, early meeting in paradise." That line was met with laughter and applause.
We don't doubt Councilwoman Pauly's commitment to America (please don't send your son to shoot us, councilwoman)! But her love of this country was outshined by a "splinter group" of "about 100," who took their protest of "past anti-American statements" to the fundraiser entrance, where they expressed their deep dissatisfaction with the keynote speakers by yelling at the fundraiser guests "no Sharia law," "Muhammad is a pervert," and "go back home" (to their houses in Orange County, one imagines the demonstrators meant). "One nation under God, not Allah," one delightful-seeming young woman shouts, in a moving display of patriotism. "This is not about hate. We are not hate mongers," said one rally speaker. No duh! This is about past anti-American statements. Hate's got nothing to do with it.
