Here's footage taken by an intrepid German tourist (and railroad enthusiast) of the 42nd Street Times Square subway stop back in 1986.

It looks the same in many ways, but it's much grimier (although you all have seen much nastier things while riding the subway). The graffiti is kind of cool, though. At least it would give you something to look at while avoiding the rats and the pickpockets. [The Awl]
