New York Nightlife Fixture Don Hill Dies at 66
Don Hill (ne Donald Mulvihill), the legendary New York club owner and manager, died yesterday at the age of 66.
In 1993, Hill opened downtown hotspot Don Hill's, which was home to staples like the gay rock 'n' roll party Squeezebox, raunchy underwear party Rated X, and the infamous haunt of Princess Coldstare, MisShapes. Recently he joined forces with hipster party promoters Nur Khan (with Hill in the photo above) and Paul Sevigny to create yet another Don Hill's renaissance.
For everyone who dealt with him (and I met him on a few very late nights), he was one of the most decent people in the sometimes smarmy nightlife world. He'll be missed. To honor Don tonight, everyone should see an awesome band, get fucked up, and stay up way past their bedtime. It's what Don would have wanted.
