Chinese government censors have issued new guidelines that essentially ban television programs that feature time travel as a plot device. I really wish we could do this, because there is no deus ex machina more overused or annoying than time travel.

This action was supposedly taken to prevent shows, like the popular drama Palace, from sending characters back in time and idealizing China before the Communist takeover. We think some Communist official is just still more than a little miffed at the lousy Lost finale. [NYT, image via Shutterstock]
