After he was slapped with a technical foul during a LA Lakers game last night, Kobe Bryant directed a homophobic slur at the referee who made the call, shouting "fucking faggot" at the ref from the bench.

Bryant has since offered up an apology for the outburst, saying his remarks shouldn't have been "taken literally" and that it happened "out of frustration during the heat of the game, period."

Well, his little moment of frustration is going to cost him. The NBA hit him with a $100,000 fine this afternoon, although considering Bryant makes $25 million a year (or $300,000 a game) and he now says he plans to appeal the fine, it's hard to say if he learned his lesson. Next time, maybe the NBA should sentence him to watch an episode of Glee instead.
