Ex-Governor Jim McGreevey Can't Be a Priest
After coming out while in office in 2004, former New Jersey governor Jim McGreevey joined the seminary and tried to be an Episcopal priest. Now it turns out the denomination doesn't want him and, shockingly enough, the decision has nothing to do with his shacking up with another man.
According to the NY Post, McGreevey's bid to become a priest was denied because of his bitter divorce from Dina Matos McGreevey, which ended up making him look like a "jackass," and because the church felt used after he quickly converted from Catholicism and embraced the Episcopal church in the wake of his scandal. As long as they're not denying him a frock because he's gay, I'm OK with that. There's nothing wrong in trying to keep "jackasses" out of your club!
