Wow, you really get an idea of how big the thing really is when you see it attached to the truck. Before that I was kinda having a hard time gauging the scale of the thing because I don't live in New York so I had no idea how big a "2 bedroom 2 bath apartment in New York city" was.
You're not kidding!
The other thing "you" (not necessarily you personally) have no idea of is that when a movie is filming in NYC, tons of trailers and trucks of all different sizes pull up and park in a 2 or 3 block area. It makes no difference to anyone applying an ounce of logic how big a single trailer is, because it's not the only trailer. They've certainly just moved two of the other smaller film trailers into the space where this big one was, and everyone is suddenly happy....why?
There are film trucks and trailers on my street in Manhattan all the time — why would I care if it was two or three regular sized ones or one gigantic one? The same amount of parking is taken up either way, and I don't drive a car in the city. This "debate" is not about logic or sense, it's about people thinking Will Smith shouldn't have a big trailer.
Here's a tip on the size of a New York City apt: Look at any average McMansion or single family home in the suburban United States. Go to the Master Bedroom, stand there and look around....voila! that is the size of a 2br/2ba in NYC (at least the ones with a minimum asking price of $1million)
That single orange cone, though, clearly IS kidding.
Score one for Bloomberg. Why doesn't Smith just buy a condo or townhouse in the city? It's not like he and his family can't aford it or don't spend a fair bit of time in New York.
Check. He already did. But oy, the 8 block walk is such a schlep!
Yes, and the ghastly people who are using the very same sidewalks.....oh dear.
I think they said he has an apartment he owns and one they rented a few blocks away. Ironic that he cannot be bothered to walk a few blocks and yet demands a separate trailer to house his "gym."
from the article, it sounds like his apt. is actually *closer* than the trailer.
There's a joke in there about transformers and Hancock but I'm too tired to make it.
I think Hancock was the joke.
A terrible, terrible joke on all of us.
Yes, and Will Smith laughed all the way to the trailer store.
Lol. Awesome.
Y'know what? If it convinces even a few more people to leave their motherfucking cars outside of Manhattan because they can't find parking, I'm 100% behind the trailer.
Given the size of it, it's hard not to be 100% behind the trailer.
A lot of people complained because the generators exhaust system rendered them unable to open their apartment windows. And the cordoned-off area in front of stores so Smith wouldn't have to pass commoners on his way in an out kind of cramped the businesses style.
But yeah, I'm with you on the parking thing, for sure. What in gods name do you need a car in the city for??
