Katie Couric is gone for good! The Scott Pelley era at CBS has begun! Try to control your excitement, ha. But hey, Pelley debuted last night, and signs are somewhat promising!

That counts as making a statement, in the network TV world. And the statement is, "I'm Scott Pelley and I'm a SERIOUS NEWSMAN, damn it, and after I leave here I won't be trying to become 'the next Oprah' or anything like that, not to name names, ahem."

We're pulling for you, Pelley, even though you remind us a little bit too much of that 'To Catch a Predator' guy.
