According to a CIA spokeswoman, the Lulz Security hack attack that took down the CIA's public website for several hours yesterday was no big deal. But... what about cyberwar!

"The CIA's public website experienced technical issues that caused it to respond slowly for a short time yesterday evening," a spokeswoman told Politico. "Those issues are resolved." The CIA said there was no actual intrusion into their system. Rather, the site was hit with a distributed denial of service attack—a flood of traffic that overwhelmed the CIA's servers. Thing is, Lulzsec launched the attack in the first place to impress a hater who derided them for their reliance on distributed denial of service attacks—which can be launched with the press of a button—instead of "real" hacking.
