CBC tracked down the couple in the now-famous photo of two people apparently making out in the middle of Wednesday night's hockey riots in Vancouver. They were not, as it turns out, making out. But neither was the photo staged for the camera!

Canadian student Alex Thomas and her boyfriend, an Australian comedian and bartender named Scott Jones, were trying to leave downtown to get away from the riots when Thomas was apparently pushed to the ground by rioters. Next thing they knew, they were overrun by riot police:

"They started beating us with the shields, like trying to get us to move," Jones told CBC News in an exclusive television interview Friday.

"We weren't being aggressive towards [police] or anything like that. But eventually they passed over us. And that's when we were on the ground. She was a bit hysterical afterwards, obviously, and I was just trying to calm her down," said Jones, 29, an Australian who's been in Canada for six months.

So, there you have it. Jones and Thomas are apparently headed to California to travel.
