Jarrett Barrios, the president of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, resigned on Sunday night following revelations that GLAAD had expressed support of AT&T's merger with T-Mobile—while also taking $50,000 in donations from the company.

Soon after the publication of the Politico article that revealed the seeming impropriety, bloggers and activists were pushing for Barrios' resignation; apparently, he initially refused to resign (despite the wishes of the executive committee), but something seems to have changed his mind.

Unfortunately, GLAAD isn't alone among liberal advocacy groups in taking corporate cash while selectively supporting corporate positions: The NAACP and the National Education Association both supported the AT&T/T-Mobile merger, for hilarious made-up reasons, while receiving hefty donations from the telecom.
