Barry Diller's new website Proust.com connects seniors with young "family members and close friends" who want to interact with them. This is a type of situation Barry Diller is something of an expert on!

Proust, just launched by Diller's IAC, sounds like a good idea; young people ask an older friend or relative a series of question on the site so the senior will "share and preserve their stories." The idea emerged, Fast Company reports, when site creator Tom Cortese lost his grandmother and regretted not asking her more questions about her life.

Touching as that is, Cortese might also try and sell the cheerier side of young-old bonding, and for that he could do worse than seeking the counsel of his boss Diller, who doted on his dashing stepson Alex von Furstenberg with free Laker tickets, and who treated his young blonde twin pals Aaron and Bryan Fox to a tropical yacht trip Thanksgiving before last, complete with a jet ski (above) and snorkeling. The mogul's cross generational adventures are a nice reminder that not all Proust questions have to be as hardscrabble as "tell me about your painful emigration from Italy." Asking about Uncle Sandy Gallin's gay mafia hits and boy toy adventures is fair game, too.
