Winehouse Family Blames Alcohol Withdrawal for Her Death
The family of British singer Amy Winehouse, who died this weekend at the age of 27, believes that the singer's decision to quit drinking cold turkey may have led to her death.
The Sun spoke with a source close to the Winehouse family who said that during a tribute at his daughter's funeral, Mitch Winehouse offered a theory as to why the singer passed away:
"He said doctors had told Amy to gradually reduce her intake of alcohol and to avoid bingeing at all costs. Amy told him she couldn't do that. It was all or nothing and she gave up completely. Mitch said the shock of giving up, after everything she had been through over a bad few years, was just too much for her to take."
People has confirmed that this is the family's belief, but of course nothing has been medically determined.
