A Majority of Icelanders Believe in the Existence of Elves
A study conducted by the folklore department of the University of Iceland has found that a majority of inhabitants of the land of Eyjafjallajökull and Björk Guðmundsdóttir believe in the existence of elves. Go figure!
"Icelanders seem much more open to phenomena like dreaming the future, forebodings, ghosts and elves than other nations," associate folklore professor Terry Gunnell said.
Only 13 percent of participants in the study said it is impossible that elves exist, 19 percent found it unlikely, 37 percent said elves possibly exist, 17 percent found their existence likely and eight percent definite. Five percent did not have an opinion on the existence of elves.
The study offered no hard data on belief in the existence of formaldehyde-preserved fairies, however, despite the compelling evidence currently coming out of Guadalajara, Mexico. [icelandreview.com via BoingBoing]
