Speaking at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York on Thursday, shit-canned former head of the United States Army, Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, said that the war in Afghanistan is a botched operation:

"We didn't know enough and we still don't know enough," he said. "Most of us - me included - had a very superficial understanding of the situation and history, and we had a frighteningly simplistic view of recent history, the last 50 years," he said.

So he's pretty much admitting this is an unwinnable war and a giant mistake, right? Wrong. He thinks, a decade into it, that we're "half-way" towards reaching our goals, whatever they are, whenever we figure out how to explode them into existence. [BBC, photo via AP]
