Today we learned that the Halloween candy you give out says as much about you as your choice of costume. Kids can be judgmental and unforgiving little ghouls and it's best not to disappoint them by giving them something healthy and stupid like carob. One commenter, however, shares a charming little New England tradition for all the witches and wizards that come a-knocking.

From octothorp:

Here in New England, we like to maintain that old-timey Halloween feel by ladling some clam chowder into each kid's goodie bag.

There's nothing kids love more than returning to their homes, dumping out their bags and gorging on candy corns, Snickers and piping hot 'n chunky clam chowder.
